💬 DEKO EXTREME FLEX – FULL FAQ GUIDE
🛠️ Before You Install
❓ Can I install Deko Extreme Flex over my existing floors?
Yep — it works over tile, timber, or concrete, as long as the surface is stable and clean.
The flexible core helps it adapt to small imperfections, which means less prep and faster installs.
❓ How flat does my subfloor need to be?
Flex is more forgiving than most rigid floors. Minor bumps or dips are fine, as long as they’re under 5 - 6mm over 2 metres.
No need to chase a perfectly level slab like traditional timber or rigid SPC.
❓ Can I use it in a two-storey home?
Absolutely. It’s a great choice for upstairs installs, especially with its built-in acoustic layer to reduce noise between floors.
❓ Can I use it with underfloor heating?
Yep — as long as it’s stays under 27°C.
Just warm the floor up gradually the first time to avoid shock to the boards.
❓ Does it need expansion gaps around the edges?
Yes — just like any floating floor, you’ll need to leave a 6-8mm expansion gap around the perimeter (walls, kitchen island, door frames, etc.).
This allows the floor to expand and contract naturally with temperature changes.
❓ Can I install kitchen cabinets over Deko Extreme Flex?
We don’t recommend it. Like all floating floors, Deko Extreme Flex needs space for expansion and contraption with temperature changes.
Install the floor around fixed cabinets, not underneath them.
❓ Is Deko Extreme Flex eco-friendly?
Yep! It’s formaldehyde-free, low in VOCs, and made using virgin core material.
Good for your home — and better for the planet.
🧱 Installation & Performance
❓ Can I bend it all I want?
It bends more than rigid SPC, yes — but it's not invincible.
It’s made to help with tricky installs, not to be folded in half. Treat it like a premium floorboard.
❓ What makes Deko Extreme Flex different from regular SPC?
The difference is in the core FlexCore™ is engineered to bend slightly without breaking, which means fewer gaps, fewer prep costs, and better installs over imperfect floors.
❓ Will it stay locked in place long-term?
Yes. FlexCore™ absorbs pressure so the click-lock system doesn’t get damaged over time, even under heavy use or uneven spots.
❓ Will the flex make it feel soft or unstable once installed?
Not at all. Once it's laid, it feels just as firm and solid as regular SPC. The flex helps during install keeping locking system intact.
❓ What about joins and scotia – do I need them?
You can install seamlessly across rooms and halls, especially in standard home sizes.
Scotia is only needed if you're not removing skirting boards. For very large areas, use expansion joins every 20m+.
❓ Can I install it myself?
You can! The Uniclic system is designed for DIY-friendly installs.
If you’re confident with tools and take your time, it's totally doable.
But for larger or uneven spaces, we always recommend a professional for best results.
❓ What tools or prep do I need to install it?
Follow our installation guideline for more information.
❓ What if I damage a plank — can I replace it?
Definitely. Since it's a click-lock system, you can remove and replace individual boards without redoing the whole floor.
A pro installer can usually fix a single plank in no time.
❓ Will it reduce noise in my home?
It helps a lot. The built-in acoustic backing softens footstep noise and reduces sound transfer — especially helpful in multi-level homes or apartments.
❓ Is it pet-friendly?
Very! It’s scratch-resistant, waterproof, and easy to clean — perfect for dogs, cats, and all the mess that comes with them.
🧼 Care, Cleaning & Living With It
❓ Is it waterproof?
Yep — completely. From top to bottom. Perfect for kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, and rentals.
❓ What’s the best way to clean it?
Vacuum or sweep regularly
Mop with a damp (not soaking wet) cloth
No steam mops or harsh cleaners needed
Spills? Just wipe them up and carry on.
❓ Can it handle direct sunlight?
It has double UV coating to resist fading, but like all flooring, long-term exposure to harsh sunlight can cause lightening.
Use blinds or curtains for strong sun-facing rooms.
❓ How long will it last?
With proper care, decades. Deko Extreme Flex is backed by a 30-year residential warranty — so you can install it once and enjoy it for the long run.
🔍 Flex vs Other Flooring: Why It’s a Smarter Choice
❓ What’s the difference between Deko Extreme and Deko Extreme Flex?
Deko Extreme = Classic rigid SPC
Deko Extreme Flex = All the strength, but with extra bend and easier installs
Better grip, faster installs, fewer subfloor issues, and same waterproof performance.
❓ Is it good for rentals or commercial use?
Totally. It's tough, scratch-resistant, and waterproof — ideal for high-traffic homes, busy tenants, or even light commercial use.
❓ Is it suitable for every room in the house?
Pretty much, yes. Bedrooms, hallways, kitchens, bathrooms — it handles them all.
Just avoid areas with standing water like walk-in showers.
❓ What makes it better than laminate?
Laminate isn’t waterproof — SPC is. Plus, Flex installs faster, handles uneven floors better, and has built-in underlay.
You get the wood-look finish without the water worries.
